Heather Hayes is the Founder and CEO of Heather R. Hayes & Associates, Inc., a concierge mental health and addiction services firm serving families nationally and internationally. She is a Master’s-level Licensed Professional Counselor, a Board Registered Interventionist (CIP), and a Certified ARISE Interventionist.
Ms. Hayes earned her B.A. from Emory University and her M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. With over 35 years of experience in the behavioral health field, she is widely recognized for her work with complex mental health conditions, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and high-risk behavioral presentations across the lifespan, with particular expertise in adolescents and young adults.
A nationally and internationally sought-after speaker, Ms. Hayes is known for her trauma-responsive, systems-based approach to intervention and recovery. Her work emphasizes human dignity, family engagement, and coordinated care as the foundation for sustainable healing. She has been published in journals, books, and industry publications, and regularly contributes to advancing ethical standards in the field.
Ms. Hayes serves as an on-air expert and consultant for CNN and The Dr. Oz Show, and has been featured across major media outlets including A&E, ABC, CBS, BBC, FOX, MTV, and NBC. She also appeared as a featured interventionist on the 2018 and 2019 seasons of A&E’s Intervention.
Throughout her career, Ms. Hayes has guided individuals and families through some of the most acute and complex moments of crisis. Her work extends beyond the individual to the entire family system, helping to restore connection, rebuild trust, and create the conditions for long-term recovery.
As an independent interventionist and a strong advocate for ethical practice, Ms. Hayes maintains no financial relationships with treatment programs or providers. More than 95 percent of her interventions result in individuals accepting treatment.
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Hayes serves as a psychological profiler with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department Hostage Negotiation and SWAT Team, bringing her expertise in crisis dynamics, behavioral assessment, and negotiation to high-stakes situations.
